The Docks in Colour

In the 1970s the Docks were easily accessed by the public. Then with the question of security on everyones mind, they gradually became out of bounds for unofficial visitors, fishermen and more to the point photographers.Amunition boats were regularly seen feeding various war zones. One particularly funny incident saw a large armed American soldier, smoking a huge cigar. he was sitting on a warning sign which said, DANGER NO SMOKING LIVE AMMUNITION . Here are two pictures of the Newport Docks taken in 1974, when we all roamed freely around Newport's dockland,
