Quiet Womans Row

The Acme Jazz Band at the engineers arms.

The Engineers under the superb management of Roger and Dianne Boswell, boasted the longest running Jazz band tenancy in the area. The band, aptly named the Acme became, as their many followers, part of the furniture.
Monday nights was Jazz night, with guest musicians and others just sitting in for a blow. The atmosphere was beyond description and will I doubt ever be seen, or experienced again. Pictured below, the late Bob Gribble on trombone, Drummer John Bennett, Sam Sims, (banjo) Jane Gregory, (double base)Martin Butterworth Sax and Phil Wall on clarinet. Also featured are a number of the regulars contemplating their Mnday while waiting for the band to begin .
